This fabulous group formed over two decades ago relights the magic of that splendid era breathing new life into those fabulous songs such as: Saturday night at the movies ; Under the Boardwalk ; Spanish Harlem ; My girl ; You’re more than a number in my little red book ; Stand by me ; Up on the roof ; save the last dance for me ; Kissing in the back row of the movies ; Like sister and brother ; come on over to my place ; I can’t help myself; You to me are everything; Heard it through the grapevine… plus many ,many more great Soul and motown Classics.
Richie Sampson has performed with former longstanding members of the legendary Drifters such as RayLewis, Billy Lewis, Roy G Hemmings and others. He was also Frontman for the first British multicultural soul group ‘The Foundations’ (million selling hit “Build me up buttercup”).
The current line-up of ‘Soul Kinda Wonderful’ includes Paul Anthony and Roy Bailey who were apart of the original Ray Lewis group back in the late nineties who toured worldwide. The group is joined by Victor Alexander who performed for Soul Giant Johnny Johnson and The Vagabonds and for the irrepressible Mark Morrison who penned the number 1 worldwide hit ‘Return of the Mack’
Richie Sampson & Soul Kinda Wonderful are music award winners: They were voted the Official No.1tribute to The Drifters in 2013 at the NTA Awards held by the Agent’s Association of Great Britain…whoselected them on the basis that.. “their performance and star quality is the nearest to the real thing we have seen”.
Performing and celebrating the fabulous songs of the legendary Drifters has taken us from nightclubs, lavish Theatres to prestigious Palaces for Royalty. Indeed Richie Sampson and his group has performed for celebrities such as David Beckham, Sir Alex Ferguson, Rio Ferdinand, Coleen Nolan, Tom cruise , Royston Blythe, Sir Trevor McDonald to name a few…..
